Things to Say to Interrupt a Prejudiced Comment

  1. "I'm sure you didn't mean to offend me, but you did, and let me tell you why..."
  2. "What you said could be perceived as (racially, sexually, economically, etc.) biased."
  3. "I'm going to interrupt what you are saying because you've just offended me."
  4. "Where did you get that information?"
  5. "What did you mean when you said...?" (i.e. The Arabs and the Japanese are buying up the US).
  6. "Excuse me!" (said with disbelief)
  7. Just say, "Ouch!"
  8. "Did you know that members of that group find that hurtful?"
  9. "I don't like that!"
  10. "I can't believe you just said that."
  11. "Do you believe what you just said?"
  12. "Do you realize what you've just said?"
  13. "I don't think you meant that, but how I felt was..."
