Things to Say to Interrupt a Prejudiced Comment
- "I'm sure you didn't mean to offend me, but you did, and let me tell you why..."
- "What you said could be perceived as (racially, sexually, economically, etc.) biased."
- "I'm going to interrupt what you are saying because you've just offended me."
- "Where did you get that information?"
- "What did you mean when you said...?" (i.e. The Arabs and the Japanese are buying up the US).
- "Excuse me!" (said with disbelief)
- Just say, "Ouch!"
- "Did you know that members of that group find that hurtful?"
- "I don't like that!"
- "I can't believe you just said that."
- "Do you believe what you just said?"
- "Do you realize what you've just said?"
- "I don't think you meant that, but how I felt was..."
