Partnerships for Diversity
CAD has joined with Hewlett-Packard, CH2MHill, Oregon State University, Linn-Benton Community College, the City of Corvallis, Benton County, the Martin Luther King Jr.
Commission, the Corvallis Odd Fellows, and Safeway to form "Partnerships for Diversity". The partnership will collaborate and co-sponsor at least one annual diversity event in the community. The first event was a free presentation by Jane Elliot on November 5, 2003, 7:00 pm at LaSells Stewart Center, OSU. Jane Elliot, creator of the famous blue eyes/brown eyes project in 1968 following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., addressed the topic "Discrimination: What's it all About?"

Monitoring of Discrimination Incidents
CAD has begun keeping a database of local discrimination events. This activity was previously performed by the City of Corvallis Ombudsperson but that position has unfortunately been eliminated. CAD will provide support and guidance for people who are the target of discrimination. In addition, CAD will regularly provide information on discrimination incidents to local government officials and business associations to keep them informed about community problems and to encourage them to work to actively resolve them. Please contact us if you have been the target of discrimination.
Diversity Training for Local Businesses
CAD wants to help local businesses provide better service to their diverse customers by providing free diversity training sessions. If you are involved in a local business, or know of one that needs to improve their service to diverse clientele, please contact us to arrange a training session.
Diversity Book Club Meeting Schedule
Members of our community have formed a book-club to discuss diversity-themed books.
Diversity Forum
Over the past two years, the CAD Board of Directors have been engaged in numerous activities to gather information about the future community diversity and livability needs and how CAD can provide leadership in addressing those issues. In May 2006, CAD held a public forum to further defines our organizational vision and values that we believe will make the Community Alliance for Diversity a viable and valuable asset to the Corvallis area while providing leadership to the community diversity issues.
